Interests

This is a list of interest categories and the interests within each category. Click on an interest to learn more about that item. Chair Committee

7 Members
The Chair Committee will be a project-based committee, which will include tasks such as assisting with creating an organizational system for the DARN gmail account, filing emails in the gmail, and organizing the DARN summer programs/campus list (spring/summer). This committee can assist with miscellaneous duties, to lighten the loads of other executive committee members, much like the Chair position does. A great training tool for members planning to run for an executive office in the next recruitment cycle.

Vice Chair Committee

8 Members
The Vice Chair Committee will assist with all aspects of planning the spring Counselor Updates, including venue selection, event creation, invitation creation and communication, budgeting, "swag" creation, and day of execution.

Secretary Committee

1 Members
2 members will assist with the attendance policy process. Courtesy call to members that are late and/or no-shows prior to a strike email being sent by the secretary. These members will also be included on all emails
3 Members
4 members will assist in formatting/updating the DARN Booklet and DARN Cheat Sheet in July of every year.

Outreach Committee

16 Members
The outreach committee helps schedule visits at high schools around the DFW Metroplex. Our committee then adds these to Club Express so DARN membership can sign up and attend events together - making the visits not only more fun, but more productive! The outreach committee also maintains a list of high school counselor contacts. It's a fun and easy committee and we'd love for you to join!

Anyone interested in the Outreach Vice Coordinator position will submit their application the DARN Executive Committee. This position will assist in setting up visits, college fairs, presentations, panels, virtual events, etc. on behalf of DARN. Additionally, this elected position will help update the DARN high school counselor contact list. This position is a one year commitment and would be encouraged to run for Outreach Coordinator if interested.

Technology Committee

5 Members
Members of the Technology committee assist with creating and implementing social media (Instagram: @texasdarn) initiatives and aid with maintenance of our ClubExpress membership platform including, but not limited to: website maintenance, troubleshooting, and onboarding new members. Additionally, I would like to develop branding guidelines for the organization to abide by when using logos, verbiage, etc. TECHnically the best!

Membership Committee

17 Members
Membership Committee - serves to welcome new members to DARN while encouraging involvement within the DARN community. The committee will facilitate new member orientations and introduce new members to the membership; update the Welcome Wagon; celebrate members' birthdays and DARNie of the month; promote membership to DARN & TACAC; and coordinate social events throughout the year. The membership committee is looking for 2-3 committee members to assist with the planning of social events/happy hours throughout the year.

Responsible for supporting our DARN family and community during celebrations, as well as difficult times. The committee organizes both physical and virtual cards to send to DARN members. We are looking for 1-2 members.

College Search Series Committee

The College Search Series (CSS) committee is responsible for the development and execution of our annual DARN College Search Series events. As a member of the CSS committee—volunteers may be responsible for the following: • Brainstorming innovative CSS event concepts • Assisting with the development & execution of those concepts • Identifying & contacting potential hosts for CSS events *Committee members who successfully connect with potential CSS event hosts will serve as the contact liaison between DARN and the CSS event host In previous years—the CSS committee has been successful with 5-8 committee members but, there is no limit to how many volunteers can serve on the committee. If you want to be actively involved but with a limited time commitment—please join us!

Swings Committee

13 Members
The SWING Committee is responsible for planning these wonderful recruitment events! Committee members, working closely with partnering high schools, will help organize and implement SWINGs throughout the metroplex and beyond. They will work together to cultivate the strong relationships between DARN and local schools, as well as find new areas where we can better serve our students and counselors. Finally, committee members may be called upon to help administer these events, day of, as the point of contact for DARN members and the high schools. The SWING Committee is an exciting and rewarding opportunity, and we would love for you to be a part of it!

SWING Vice Coordinator: Anyone interested in the SWING Vice Coordinator position will submit their application to the DARN Executive Committee This elected position will assist in the organization and execution of current and potential SWINGS on behalf of DARN. The Vice SWING Coordinator will also help manage and update the SWING database and contact list. This position is a one-year commitment and would be encouraged to run for SWING Coordinator if interested.

Professional Development Committee

16 Members
Committee members will assist with idea generation, planning, and staffing professional development events during the 2023-2024 school year. Committee members will plan and host the annual DARN Professional Development Summer Conference tentatively scheduled for June 2024.
